Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty (eyelid correction) is one of the most common facial aesthetic procedures. It removes excess skin and fatty deposits around the upper and lower eyelids, significantly rejuvenating the appearance and giving the face a rested look. At Aesthgery clinic, blepharoplasty is performed by MUDr. Kamila Šormová with emphasis on natural results.

Who is blepharoplasty suitable for

Blepharoplasty is suitable for patients suffering from drooping upper eyelids, under-eye bags, or excess skin that limits peripheral vision. Both women and men undergo the procedure, most commonly from age 35, though younger patients with hereditary disposition are not uncommon. The surgery also addresses chronic tired appearance caused by tissue descent around the eyes.

The procedure

The surgery is performed under local anesthesia and takes approximately 1–2 hours. For upper eyelids, the surgeon removes excess skin and fat through an incision in the natural eyelid crease — the scar is virtually invisible after healing. For lower eyelids, access is either through an incision just below the lash line or transconjunctivally (from inside the eyelid) with no visible scar. The procedure is outpatient — you go home after surgery.

Recovery and results

Immediately after surgery, expect swelling and bruising that resolves within 7–14 days. Sutures are removed on day 5–7. You are typically presentable within 10 days. Final results are visible after 2–3 months when scars fully heal and tissues settle. Blepharoplasty results are long-lasting, rejuvenating the eye area by years.

Risks and complications

Blepharoplasty is among the safest aesthetic procedures. Rarely, asymmetry, temporary dry eye, difficulty closing the eyelids, or infection may occur. At Aesthgery clinic, we minimize risks through thorough pre-operative examination and experienced execution. During your consultation, Dr. Šormová will explain all potential risks and prevention methods.
