Skin Examination
Every day your skin is exposed to sun, stress and dozens of other influences. Most of them go unnoticed, yet they can pose a serious risk. Regular skin examination is one of the simplest steps you can take for your health. We provide it in collaboration with Hello Beauty Clinic in Pilsen, where dermatological prevention and aesthetic medicine come together under one roof.
Why skin examination is important
Skin is the largest organ of the human body and the most visible. Every day it faces UV radiation, air pollution, hormonal changes and stress. These influences gradually take their toll – sometimes visibly, sometimes in ways the naked eye cannot detect.
Changes to watch for: a new mole appearing, an existing mole changing colour or shape, or a lesion that repeatedly irritates or fails to heal. None of these signals automatically mean a problem, but each deserves professional assessment.
Melanoma is among the most aggressive forms of cancer – and also among those that can be treated with high success when detected early. The difference between early and late detection is often just a matter of regular annual screening.
A dermatological examination is a quick, painless check-up that takes less time than most preventive tests. No referral or specific preparation is needed.
Mole screening and removal
Mole screening
Mole screening is the foundation of skin cancer prevention. Hello Beauty Clinic uses a modern dermatoscope for detailed imaging – far more precise than examination with the naked eye. It reveals changes in symmetry, colour or borders that may signal risk. The earlier such a change is detected, the simpler the solution. Screening is fast, painless and requires no preparation. Annual screening is recommended, more often for high-risk individuals.
Mole removal
If screening reveals a mole that should be removed – for either preventive or cosmetic reasons – Hello Beauty Clinic offers professional removal. Available methods include electrocauterisation, thermocauterisation and cryotherapy with liquid nitrogen. The method is chosen based on the type and location of the mole. Every removal is preceded by a consultation, and healing is typically quick with excellent cosmetic results. Important: mole screening must always precede removal – this step cannot be skipped.
Who should have a skin examination
Skin examination is not only for those who have noticed a specific change. It is recommended for anyone who:
- Has fair or sensitive skin, or spends a lot of time in the sun
- Has a family history of skin melanoma or other skin cancers
- Has a large number of moles or pigmented spots
- Has noticed a change in an existing mole
- Is planning an aesthetic procedure and wants an overview of their skin condition
How often to have mole screening
The general recommendation from dermatologists is once a year. Frequency may vary based on individual risk factors:
Skin type and sun sensitivity
Fair skin, blue or green eyes and a tendency to burn are risk factors. At least once a year, ideally after summer.
Number and character of moles
The more moles you have, the greater the reason for regular screening. Atypical moles – larger, irregularly bordered or multi-coloured – should be checked twice a year.
Family history
If a close relative has had melanoma or another skin cancer, you are in a higher-risk group – at least twice-yearly screening is essential.
Age
Risk of skin changes increases with age. After 40, give mole screening extra attention even if no changes are observed.
Regular sun exposure
People who spend a lot of time outdoors, or who regularly use sunbeds, should have annual screening without exception.
