Breast Lift
Breasts change throughout life. After pregnancy and breastfeeding, after significant weight loss or with natural ageing, they lose their shape, volume and position. The skin loosens, the tissue descends, and the result is sagging that cannot be influenced by exercise or lifestyle. A breast lift is a surgical procedure aimed at restoring the shape of the breasts. It is not about enlarging or reducing them — it is about reshaping.
Who is a breast lift ideal for?
- Sagging breasts after breastfeeding or pregnancy
- A change in shape after significant weight loss
- Natural sagging caused by age
- Breast asymmetry
What a breast lift is and what it can change
A breast lift adjusts the shape and position of the breasts. The surgeon removes excess skin, reshapes the breast tissue and repositions the nipple at the correct height. The result is breasts that are firmer, more symmetrical and more balanced in shape.
How a breast lift is performed
The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia and usually takes two to three hours.
The surgeon makes an incision around the areola, vertically downward and horizontally in the inframammary fold (the so-called anchor incision). The breast tissue is reshaped, excess skin is removed and the nipple is moved higher. After the operation the patient stays at the clinic for 1 day.
The scar after a breast lift
The scar is part of the result. Most often it has the shape of an anchor (around the areola, vertically downward and in the inframammary fold). In milder cases the scar may be shorter. With proper care, scars gradually fade and become less noticeable within 12–18 months.
You will achieve the best long-term result if you plan the breast lift only after your pregnancy plans are complete and when your weight is stable.
How long do the results last
The results are long-lasting, but not lifelong. The biggest influences are pregnancy, breastfeeding and significant weight fluctuations after the operation.
Frequently asked questions about breast lifts
How do I know whether a breast lift is right for me?
A breast lift is suitable if you are bothered by sagging or by a change in the shape of your breasts. A personal consultation is the best way to find out.
Do I need to be at a stable weight?
Yes. A stable weight before surgery contributes significantly to a long-lasting result.
How painful is the recovery?
The recovery is more unpleasant (tension, swelling) than painful. The first few days are more demanding; pain is easily controlled with standard medication.
When will I see the final result?
Swelling subsides within 2–4 weeks; the final shape and the appearance of the scars are visible after 6–12 months.
Can the sagging come back?
Breasts change naturally throughout life. A properly performed breast lift, however, brings a long-lasting and noticeable improvement.
A result worth the patience
A breast lift restores firmness and a natural position to the breasts. The result develops gradually and, when post-operative recommendations are followed, brings high satisfaction for many years.
